Advancing Equitable Skin Health Education
About SOCCN
Skin of Colour Care Network (SOCCN) is a Canadian initiative focused on improving dermatologic education, advocacy, and research related to skin-of-colour communities. Through community outreach, digital education, and collaborative initiatives, SOCCN aims to improve awareness surrounding preventative skin health and culturally informed care.

WHY THIS MATTERS
Dermatologic conditions can present differently across skin tones, yet misconceptions and gaps in awareness surrounding skin health continue to affect many communities. Misunderstandings regarding sun protection, skin cancer risk, hyperpigmentation, and other dermatologic conditions may contribute to delayed diagnosis, reduced preventative care awareness, and barriers to culturally informed education.
Despite growing conversations surrounding health equity, educational resources and public awareness campaigns often fail to adequately represent the diversity of skin presentations and experiences across different communities. SOCCN was created to help bridge these gaps through accessible education, advocacy, and collaborative initiatives.
Our Mission & Vision
SOCCN is dedicated to improving dermatologic health awareness, education, advocacy, and research within underserved communities through community outreach, digital education, and collaborative initiatives.
To advance equitable access to culturally informed dermatologic education, preventative care awareness, and skin health research across Canada.
